One Injury Reported From Motor Vehicle Accident in New Providence

Injured driver transported to hospital. Two out of three vehicles were seriously damaged. Road closed on South Street, traffic diverted down Southgate Road, Ethan Drive.

One driver was injured in an accident involving three motor vehicles that occurred around 7:55 a.m. today on South Street between Southgate and Ethan Drive in New Providence. Two cars were seriously damaged and the injured driver was transported to a nearby hospital, said New Providence Police Sgt. Frank Gaffney. The extent of the driver’s injuries are not known at this time. Patch arrived at the scene around 8:30 a.m. Two of the three vehicles involved in the accident were still at the scene and both were being loaded onto tow trucks. One car was missing two tires and had damage to the front end, while a Jeep was missing one tire and appeared to also have damage to the front end. No Injuries in MVA at South Street, Central Avenue in New Providence

Accident involving three vehicles occurred around 3 p.m. today, caused traffic delays along both roads for less than one hour.

An accident involving three motor vehicles occurred around 3 p.m. today at the intersection of South Street and Central Avenue in New Providence. Officials at the scene said there were no injuries. Based on the police report collected at the scene, New Providence Deputy Chief Scott Torre said one of the three cars involved was traveling northbound on South Street, turning left onto Central Avenue. An oncoming car, traveling southbound on South Street, was also turning left onto Central Avenue when the collision occurred. "The second car, which was traveling south on South Street, was then pushed into a third vehicle, which was staged at the light," Torre said in an email. One Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident in Scotch Plains

Man was driving on wrong side of road, according to an eyewitness report.

A motor vehicle accident occurred around 1 p.m. Sunday at the corner of North Avenue and Promenade. According to an eyewitness report, the man involved in the accident was driving on the wrong side of North Avenue and crashed into a tree near Promenade. An unconfirmed report stated that the man was entrapped in his vehicle, extricated and transported to UMDNJ. The man told the police he was on methadone. My kids play and my neighbors kids live and play here! So I hope he goes to jail! Also, he was driving on the wrong side pf North ave before he hit the tree putting many lives in jeopardy.   more ›

Berkeley Heights Police Release Details of Fatal Car Accident

The accident at Park Avenue and Willow Way occurred when one driver attempted a left hand turn in front of an oncoming driver, say police.

An accident in Berkeley Heights that took the life of a Manchester, NJ woman this past weekend was caused when one driver made a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic, reported Berkeley Heights Police. In a release issued this evening, police stated that the accident occurred when Michael D. Miller, 19, of Locust Valley, NY, attempted a left turn on to Willow Way while travelling northeast on Park Avenue, in front of Joseph Tribuna, 50, of Berkeley Heights, who was operating a 2007 Honda and travelling southwest on Park Ave. approaching Willow Way.   The crash resulted in serious injuries to Linda Tribuna, 50, of Berkeley Heights and Antoinette Cecere, 79, of Manchester NJ, both of whom were passengers in the Tribuna vehicle. One Minor Injury After Two-Car Accident in New Providence

The individual who was injured was not taken to the hospital. Traffic reopened on Springfield Avenue at 6 p.m.

A two-car motor vehicle accident on Springfield Avenue today resulted in one minor injury, police said. The accident occurred near 1275 Springfield Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. and New Providence EMS was called to the scene. Cpl. Steve Opalewski said the individual who sustained minor injuries did not want to be taken to the hospital and the accident is still under investigation by the New Providence Police Department. Traffic was closed from South Street to Academy Street, but re-opened around 6 p.m. Both vehicles involved in the accident were taken away by two tow trucks.
