NJ Sharing Network has been named a Platinum Winner in the prestigious MarCom Awards for its media campaign supporting the “Share NJ 5K Race to Save Lives.” The 2012 international awards competition recognizes creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, which judged more than 6,000 entries in 2012. Speakers at Union County breakfast focused on hyperlocal media, digital news. Event featured panel of publishers from Patch, ElizabethInsideOut TV, The Alternative Press.
More than 200 local business owners participated in a Tuesday morning networking business breakfast, presented by "Union County Means Business" and hosted at the headquarters of NJ Sharing Network in New Providence. The focus was on digital news and hyperlocal media, and featured a panel that included Lorin Kleiner, regional publisher for Patch, Julio Sabato, publisher of ElizabethInsideOut TV and Michael Shapiro, publisher of The Alternative Press. Wendi Caplan-Carroll, of the digital marketing company, Constant Contact, briefed the group on the use of social media to grow business. The NJ Sharing Network Foundation recently announced that Morristown-based Hampshire Real Estate Companies, a real estate investment fund manager, has contributed $100,000 to support the work of NJ Sharing Network, the non-profit agency responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue for 5,000 New Jerseyans awaiting lifesaving transplants. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of NJ Sharing Network. The contribution is among the largest single gifts ever made to the NJ Sharing Network Foundation. “We are extremely grateful for this generous gift and express our sincerest thanks. Dear Editor: I was truly amazed to see such overwhelming community support for the NJ Sharing Network Foundation’s 2nd annual Share NJ 5K Walk/Run on June 10. Thousands flooded the streets of New Providence that day, including donor families and transplant recipients, to remember those who gave, honor those who received and offer hope to those who continue to wait for the “gift of life.” Blue skies and warm weather provided an ideal backdrop for every walker, runner, civic group and corporate partner that joined us that day. Together, we showed how much we care about those touched by organ donation and transplantation. I was also deeply moved by the philanthropic generosity displayed at the Share NJ 5K. Alyssa D’Addio lost her father, Joe, to a brain hemorrhage a few years ago. He was sitting at the kitchen table one day, held his head, and told his wife that he was losing it. D’Addio’s mother called an ambulance, and when they arrived at the hospital, she was given a grim diagnosis – he had 24 hours left, and she had to say goodbye to her dad. But instead of losing him totally, D’Addio and her family decided to donate her father’s organs to help others in need. “In a way, it’s like keeping a piece of him here,” she said. “We knew this is what he wanted.” The D’Addio family turned to the NJ Sharing Network in New Providence to aid in the organ donations – and after support from them during her father’s death, D’Addio has turned and …

Nearly 5,000 people, united by their support for organ and tissue donation, gathered Sunday for the Second Annual Share NJ 5K Race to Save Lives through Organ & Tissue Donation. The event, with record turnout, raised more than $560,000 to provide education, outreach and family support. This June, the New Providence Business & Professional Association will host the second annual Share NJ 5K Walk/Run, a 5K Race to Save Lives Through Organ and Tissue Donation. The event will be on Sunday, June 10. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the NJ Sharing Network Headquarters, located on Central Avenue in New Providence. The USATF certified 5K race will begin at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., the 5K will begin for all walkers. There will also be a 50 yard "Sprout Sprint" at 11 a.m. At 11:15 a.m. there will be a program to recognize all individuals who came out to support the event.
