New Providence Business Community Wraps Up A Great Year

Business community sponsors many events, funds a Scholarship Program, contributes to local charities, creates forum for interaction among businesses, government officials.

Thousands of community members hit South Street on Sunday for the annual New Providence Street Fair. Sponsored by the New Providence Business Community, the fair featured a petting zoo, pony rides, exhibitors, local businesses and organizations, food vendors, a Kid Friendly Art Zone and live entertainment. New Providence Street Fair Hits South Street This Sunday

This annual fair will feature numerous street vendors, activities for the kids and live entertainment for all ages on Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Read on for all the details.

It’s that time of year again when the kids are just starting a fresh school year and the fall season is about to bring crisp, cool weather our way. It’s also time for the Annual Street Fair, which will take over South Street in downtown New Providence this Sunday, Sept. 9 for a fun-filled family day. Sponsored by the New Providence Business Community, the fair will sprinkle South Street between Gales Drive and Springfield Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with upwards of 100 street vendors, plenty of activities for the kids and live entertainment for all ages. “We’re going to have the ‘Kid Friendly Art Zone,’ sponsored by the Prestige Diner. New Providence Business Community Awards Two Student Scholarships

Scholarships were presented to Gabriel Lyons and Kelly Gorczyk during the awards ceremony on June 7 at New Providence High School.

The New Providence Business Community is proud to announce the recipients of the 2012 Business Community scholarships. Two $1,500 scholarships were awarded to Gabriel Lyons and Kelly Gorczyk, who have an interest in business and show entrepreneurial spirit. Both students were selected by the New Providence High School. Gabriel will be attending Brown University and studying Computer Science this fall, while Kelly will be attending Rider University and is interested in eventually studying Marine Biology.  “We are very pleased to present these scholarships to Gabriel and Kelly. They are both very deserving students,” said Michelle Brugger, New Providence Business Community spokeswoman. “We are always looking for ways to give back to the …

NP Business Community Plans To Award Scholarships To Two Seniors

Each $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female student, who will be selected by the New Providence High School based on qualifying criteria.

The New Providence Business Community is proud to announce that they are funding $3,000 in scholarships for two 2012 New Providence High School graduating seniors.  The scholarships will be awarded as one $1,500 scholarship for each student in need (one male and one female) who has an interest in business and shows entrepreneurial spirit.  The high school will select the recipients who best meet the qualifying criteria.  Students must apply for the scholarships through the high school. “We are particularly pleased to be able to provide these educational scholarships to deserving students,” said Jimmy Vardas, New Providence Business Community spokesman. “The business community is always looking for meaningful ways to give back to New …

New Providence Cancels Town-wide Events

If it weren’t for the New Providence Business Community, we would be reading headlines like that!

  Most people don’t think about how the borough is able to fund events like the summer concerts or the Independence Day Celebrations, especially in these fiscally challenging times.  In fact, the borough has not funded these events or the street fair, Farmers Market, 5K race, or Christmas Walk for the past several years.  Instead, the local business community generously stepped in to provide the funding and manpower so that New Providence could continue to offer outstanding celebrations and activities for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.      “People don’t realize how much New Providence businesses do for our town,” said Jimmy Vardas, New Providence Business Community spokesman and owner of the Prestige Diner.  “We really want …
