Wisconsin Sheriffs’ Group 'Adopts' Local Officers Hit Hard By Sandy

Four Union County Sheriff's officers received aid to repair their storm-damaged homes.

There may not be many out-of-state utility crews on local roads these days but support for those still suffering in the wake of Super Storm Sandy continues to arrive from other parts of the country. Recently, a Wisconsin law enforcement organization sent a sizable donation to help four Union County Sheriff’s Officers whose homes were severely damaged by the devastating storm. Through the Badger State Sheriffs’ Association’s “Sheriffs Adopting Sheriffs” program, each officer received a check for more than $9,000 for home repairs and other needs related to Sandy. “Rarely have I seen such a response to the individual needs of officers,” said Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich, who presented the officers with the checks. “And these four …

UC Sheriff Offers Halloween Safety Tips

Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich is encouraging kids and adults to have a safe and happy Halloween by following a few tips.

  The following press release was submitted by the Union County Sheriff's Office. Halloween will soon be here with all its spooky fun for the kids. And as they go about enjoying the treats, the trick is for us adults to use some common sense to keep them safe. Simply going over these common sense tips with your kids can make for a safe and fun holiday. Dressing up yourself and going out trick-or-tricking with the kids is also a great way to enjoy the fun while making sure the youngsters are safe.

Release: Fingerprinting for Eligible Students in New Providence

District students in grades K - 8 can participate in this voluntary program in the morning or afternoon on Nov. 1.

Fingerprints on File, a voluntary program for children in grades kindergarten through eight, will take place in the New Providence School District on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011.   Sponsored by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, this service is available to students who are new to the district or who have never been fingerprinted. Preschoolers, accompanied by a parent or guardian, are invited to participate at either Allen W. Roberts or Salt Brook Elementary School. The Sheriff’s Office will fingerprint eligible students at Salt Brook School at 9:30 a.m. and at Allen W. Roberts at 1 p.m. Eligible kindergarten students will be fingerprinted in both morning and afternoon sessions at both elementary schools.   Any middle school student can be …
