Chang Foundation Makes Gift of $250,000 to Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation

Funding to Support Renovation of Specialty Pediatric Care Center

The Chang Foundation, based in Westfield , New Jersey , recently presented Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation with a pledge for $250,000.  The funding will support the renovation of the pediatric ambulatory care center which provides specialty physician services to children with a variety of special needs.  The support from the Chang Foundation will enable the hospital to renovate the unit and ultimately enhance the entire patient experience.  The origin of the Chang Foundation’s mission is to help young people who cannot afford much needed medical treatment on their own.  “When we considered Children's Specialized Hospital , we realized that we had a perfect fit,” said Michael Miller, Chang Foundation investment advisor.  “We are …

Gold Medalist Partners With BP To Raise Funds For Paralympics

Ray Martin, a four-time Paralympic gold medalist, has partnered up with BP to raise money for Paralympic clubs, including the Children's Lightning Wheels in Mountainside.

Paralympic champion, Ray Martin is teaming up with BP stations in New York and New Jersey to raise money for Paralympic sports clubs, including Mountainside’s Children's Lightning Wheels Club and his own club, North Jersey Navigators. Martin, 18, won four gold medals at the 2012 London Paralympics. It was his first time competing in the games and he took home the gold in every one of his races, 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m. He also achieved the world record in his 200m race. A Jersey City native, Martin trained at the North Jersey Navigators Paralympic club in Bayonne, which he said is similar to the Lightning Wheels Club in Mountainside. Springfield's Autoland and Children’s Specialized Hospital Hold Automotive Safety Event

Westfield Cub Scouts earn an automotive safety patch at Autoland and Children's Specialized Hospital automotive safety event.

The following information was provided by Children's Specialized Hospital. It was a packed showroom at Autoland in Springfield full of 59 young Cub Scouts from Westfield Pack 172 along with their den leaders and many family members  The dens, with boys aged 6-10, filled the seats and eagerly waited their turn to rotate through several stations to earn their automotive safety patch.  Mark Montenero, president, Autoland of Springfield hosted Children’s Specialized Hospital’s Safe Kids Union County Cub Scout Automotive Safety Patch Program on October 18.  Mr. Montenero generously provided the use of his showroom, vehicles, tables and chairs, pizza and refreshments and stuff bags for all in attendance.    Cub Scouts rotated through several …

Holiday Giving Program Kicks Off At Children's Specialized Hospital

Local residents, businesses and organizations are encouraged to support children with special needs this holiday season by purchasing toys from the hospital's "wish list."

Children’s Specialized Hospital is holding its annual Holiday Giving Program.  This special program helps make the holidays a little brighter for patients at Children’s Specialized Hospital.  Community members or businesses are encouraged to purchase toys from the hospital’s “Wish List.”  This list has been specially prepared by the hospital’s therapists and clinical staff. Children's Specialized Hospital Gala Raises $390K at MetLife Stadium

Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation, with one location in Mountainside, celebrates Gala’s 25th Anniversary

Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation celebrated the 25th anniversary of its annual Umbrella Gala at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Oct. 16. Supporters helped raise a record setting $390,000 to fund the hospital’s newest outpatient care center in Newark.  Children’s Specialized Hospital is the largest pediatric rehabilitation system of its kind in the nation. The outpatient center in Newark, scheduled to open in 2013, will offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, psychology and physician services and allow hundreds of families to receive access to services closer to home.  The gala committee selected Investors Bank as this year’s honoree and their president and CEO Kevin Cummings graciously accepted this special …

Elizabeth PBA Local #4 to raise funds for Children’s Specialized Hospital at Jingle Bell Run 5K on Dec. 2 at The Outlet Collection At Jersey Gardens

Elizabeth PBA Local #4 will host the second Jingle Bell Run 5K on Sunday, Dec. 2. Playball for Miracles is making miracles happen, one-pitch at a time

Playball for Miracles, a charity softball tournament and community fun day, raised more than $10,000 in its eighth year for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals' local beneficiary, Children’s Specialized Hospital.   The eighth annual Playball for Miracles charity softball tournament was held Saturday, Aug. 25 and is a stand-alone event that began in 2005, when founder Erin Kelly-McGuinness decided to raise funds for the organization after a family friend, Patrick Macnab, was diagnosed with a rare bleeding disorder. Patients Decorate Jeans to Promote National Miracle Jeans Day, Sept. 12

New Jersey pageant royalty joined patients at PSE&G Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick on Friday, Aug. 31 to decorate jeans in honor of National Miracle Jeans Day. A 'Giant' Celebration at MetLife Stadium For Local Children's Hospital

Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their annual Umbrella Gala at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Current and former NFL and New York Giants players have been invited to attend the celebration. Golfers Raise $66K for Children’s Specialized Hospital

Annual Golf Invitational attracts 21 more golfers than last year, raising money to benefit one of Children's Specialized Hospital's outpatient facilities.

Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation hosted their annual Golf Invitational on July 16 at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, raising $66,000 to benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital’s newest outpatient facility in Egg Harbor, NJ. A total of 133 golfers came out to show their support for Children’s Specialized Hospital, the largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the United States, treating more than 19,000 children with specialized rehabilitative care each year. The hospital has a facility in Mountainside. Denise Porter, of C&R Insurance Agency, and Eric Jensen, of Michael Reisz & Company, co-chaired the Golf Invitational.
