Jamie Peterson, a New Providence resident, sang a medley of Christmas music at the Senior Center on yesterday, setting the mood for the upcoming holiday.
Members and staff at the New Providence Senior Citizen Center were captivated by the sounds of the season on Wednesday afternoon as they listened to vocalist Jamie Peterson fill its meeting room with heartfelt holiday melodies. Thanks to the outreach program at The Judith G. Wharton Music Center in Berkeley Heights, the holiday concert was free of charge, making it a unique treat for the more than 50 men and women who were in attendance. The New Providence Volunteer Fire Department hosts Santa at firehouse where children wait in line to tell him their Christmas wishes.

Holiday tunes showcase the talents of elementary school students.
The rich sound of the combined Salt Brook and Allen W. Roberts orchestra enveloped the nearly-full high school auditorium for Salt Brook School's winter concert Thursday evening. Under the direction of Jose Rodriguez, the orchestra began the performance with "Downtown Suite for Strings" composed by Jay-Martin Pinner. Rodriguez spoke of the "abundant amount of talent across the board" within the New Providence school system as he introduced New Providence high school senior, Allyson Hern, who sang "Where Are You Christmas?" from the motion picture "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Mozart's "Andante & Allegro" closed the set and warmed up the crowd for the jazz band. Donald Baker, director of the jazz and concert bands, joked that their …
