Berkeley Heights a 'Best Small Town,' Money Magazine Says

Town ranks six for its restaurant scene, outdoor activities and 'neighborly feel.'

The annual Money Magazine/CNN 'Best Places to Live' issue is out—and on its list of the nation's 50 Best Small Towns, is Berkeley Heights at No. 6.

The article praises the township's proximity to major pharmaceutical factories and to New York City, its growing restaurant scene and the easy access to Watchung Reservation and its outdoor activities. Berkeley Heights is also lauded for having a "neighborly feel."

Money Magazine did have a couple of criticisms. It noted the "few major retailers" in the township and called the area housing market potentially "daunting."

Residents who talked with the Independent Press after hearing the news were uniformly elated and proud, but few reportedly were surprised by the recognition.
