U.S. Senate Primary, Berkeley Heights Concert Series This Week

Plus, New Providence street micropaving will begin and potential street fair participants can sign up now.

The U.S. Senate Primary Election is this Tuesday, which will determine who will run in the special Oct. 16 election. This election is being held to fill the seat of Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

The Republican Candidates are Alieta Eck and Steve Lonegan. The Democratic candidates are Cory Booker, Rush Holt, Sheila Oliver and Frank Pallone. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Click here for more information.

“Beatlemania Again,” which will feature more than 35 of the Beatles greatest hits — which will be performed in costume — will play at the last of the “Concerts in the Park” this Wednesday. Hosted by the Special Events Committee & Berkeley Heights Recreation Commission, the band will perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The concert series is presented by the Suburban Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.

New Providence street micropaving is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, weather permitting. This four day project will include a number of streets throughout the borough. Click here for the schedule.

New Providence's Hillview Field closed last Wednesday for repairs and will remain closed until March 2014. 

New Providence's Annual Street Fair is set for Sunday, Sept. 8 and those wishing to participate can sign up now as a non-profit, performer or vendor. To participate, contact the NPBPA at (908) 598-2532 or communications@npbpa.com, or complete the form here.

The New Providence Farmers Market will be open this Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m., rain or shine. Sponsored by the New Providence Business Community, the market is open every Wednesday through October at its new location in the Presbyterian Church at New Providence parking lot on Springfield Avenue. This weekly market is a Jersey Fresh market, according to the New Providence Business and Professional Association website, so all produce is grown in New Jersey. Community members can stop by for fresh vegetables and fruit, fresh mozzarella, artisan breads, fruit pies, cookies, crab cakes, gourmet nuts, dried fruits, prepared gourmet Italian meals, honey and flowers.
